ENDORSING | Call to Recognize the Right to a Healthy Environment as a Basic Human Right at the United Nations

In observance of World Environment Day 2022, the Parliament of the World’s Religions honored our commitment to sustainability by standing with the UN Human Rights Council in calling for the UN General Assembly to adopt the right to a healthy environment as a basic and universal human right.

We recognize the interdependence of all human rights and assert that the Right to a Healthy Environment is fundamental to all others.

Join an interactive discussion hosted by the Buddhist-Catholic Dialogue on Climate Change. What aspects of these traditions contribute to factors that imperil life on the planet? Just as important, how might these traditions enable us to realize our highest human potential, the deep expression of compassion and love for each other, especially the most vulnerable among us — human and non-human — who bear the brunt of the suffering?

Join the Monthly Member Meditation and Meet-Up. June's mediation is brought to you from the Parliament archives. The Lake Worth Interfaith Network (LWIN) facilitates a Global Energy Meditation (GEM), featuring a multi-faceted approach to meditation. The five presenters offer a glimpse into meditation as practiced by different religions, specifically Buddhism, Sikhism, Indigenous Tradition, Christianity, and New Age Spirituality.

Following the meditation, the space opens up for members to introduce themselves and engage in dialogue.

On 26 May 2022, Parliament Vice Chair Rev. Dr. Scott Stearman, who represents the Baptist World Alliance to the United Nations, hosted a special webinar for the Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement at Seattle University sharing about how the invasion of Ukraine stresses food insecurity, access to international funding programs, and sustained advocacy across the world.
