Rental providers must ensure a property meets minimum standards before a renter moves in.
The standards apply to rental agreements (leases) that:
- started after 29 March 2021
- began before the above date and rolled over into periodic (month to month) agreements on or after 29 March 2021.
There are penalties if your property doesn’t meet minimum standards. There are also consequences if you don’t complete the requested repairs to bring a property up to minimum standards.
