It has been a busy first fortnight for Multicultural and Multifaith Victoria (MMV), and we thank communities across Victoria for the warm welcome as we begin this new chapter.
MMV was established on 1 October 2026 to strengthen engagement with multicultural and multifaith communities and promote participation, inclusion and social cohesion in Victoria.
Across Victoria, communities have been celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights. It has been a joy to join these celebrations and acknowledge the values at the core of this Festival: hope, new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil.
Last night we honoured the winners of the Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence, held at Government House. I was joined by the Premier, Minister for Multicultural Affairs and the Attorney General alongside our incredible recipients and their guests. The evening celebrated the outstanding contributions of individuals and organisations, who help build a more connected and inclusive Victoria.
Congratulations to all Award Winners and Victorian Multicultural Honour Roll Inductees. Your commitment, leadership and service makes a lasting difference to our communities and this recognition is deserved.
As MMV progresses, we look forward to listening, learning and working alongside communities across Victoria. Together, we can build on Victoria's strengths, and create an even greater sense of belonging, participation and opportunity for all who call Victoria home.
Louise Perry, Interim Multicultural Coordinator General
