The aims of the event are to:
- celebrate the achievements of refugees so that they can be recognised as inspirational role models for other migrants;
- counter some recent negative portrayals and stereotypes of migrant and refugee experiences;
- increase awareness of the diversity of cultural and religious groups in the Port Phillip area and commonalities between them.
