VMC | UPDATING | VMC end of year event, Melbourne Jewish Food Festival and a school holiday music experience for students | Tuesday 6 December 2022

[Edited extract from public address]

Monday 5 December 2022, a new Victorian Cabinet was announced and sworn in to support the re-elected Government.

Message from the Chairperson

In light of this news, I'd like to express my heartfelt appreciation to the Hon. Ros Spence MP Minister for Multicultural Affairs for her commitment to multicultural and multifaith communities in Victoria. Her leadership was especially appreciated during the most difficult times of this pandemic, when our state's multicultural communities were disproportionately impacted.

As Minister, she supported the VMC in providing resources and platforms for the community to be resourced and empowered. Their leadership ensured we got through the darkest days of the pandemic together. I would also like to thank Katie Hall for her support and assistance during her time as Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs.

On behalf of the VMC, I'd like to welcome Minister Colin Brooks, the new Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Nathan Lambert, the new Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs.  We look forward to meeting the Minister and his office to discuss how we can improve outcomes for multicultural communities.

As we welcome these changes, it's also a time for reflection. To reflect on the year that has passed, the VMC will be holding an online event Tuesday 13 December 2022. Everyone is invited to attend, and join us in celebrating our 2022 achievements. Please see the newsletter item below for more details.

Until we next meet, take care and stay well.
Viv Nguyen AM, Chairperson
