Advising what is happening in the Grants and Funding space at Port Phillip Council to share with members of your community group.

There is an opportunity to be part of a Reference Committee that provides recommendations for Community Grants projects and Cultural Development to Council. Also, there is a new grant opening soon through the Palais Theatre to check out.

Applications are now open for our Community Grants Assessment Panel Reference Committee and the Cultural Development Fund Reference Committee.

Cultural Development Fund Reference Committee

Council is seeking nominations from community members for voluntary positions for the Cultural Development Fund (CDF) Reference Committee for a 2-year term. The Committee will assist Council by providing advice and recommendations in relation to applications to the three streams Cultural Development Fund grants; CDF-Projects, CDF-Key Organisations and CDF-Festivals and Events grants

Who can apply?
Community members who:
  • live, work or volunteer in the City of Port Phillip or can demonstrate a strong connection to the cultural life of the City
  • demonstrate experience in cultural and creative industries and / or creative-based festivals and events including in production, programming, marketing, administration or management or precinct-based tourism / promotion.
  • demonstrate experience, passion and enthusiasm for the issues and challenges related to the purposes of the Reference Committee or Panel.
  • have the ability to appreciate a range of interests and factors impacting on the matters under discussion
  • demonstrate commitment to participative and consultative processes
  • experienced in Funding and grants, committee, board or volunteer would be desirable.

Community Grants Assessment Panel Reference Committee

The Community Grants Assessment Panel Reference Committee provides advice, feedback and recommendations on applications for the annual Community Grants Program.

Selected committee members will be able to recommend opportunities for Council to partner with community organisations on projects that enhance diversity, enable community participation and decision making. They will also contribute to the building of healthy, strong and inclusive communities.

Who can apply?
  • Community members who live, work or volunteer in the City of Port Phillip.

Applications are encouraged from community who demonstrate some of the following:
  • Be committed to supporting and strengthening a diverse community that encourages the participation and inclusion of all residents.
  • Be understanding of issues affecting residents in City of Port Phillip including youth, families and children, seniors, women and marginalised community members.
  • Have knowledge of local community organisations and groups and an awareness of local networks. 
  • Involvement in the local community, including but not limited to clubs, organisations, committees and groups.
  • Experienced in the administration of community funded projects and or the grants assessment process.

Palais Theatre Community Support grants

The next round of Palais Theatre Community Support grants for up to $5,000 is opening 15 May for community and creative organisation projects in Port Phillip. You can check out the list to see types of projects previously funded. Please share with any of your community groups who may like to apply for these grants.
