PWR | HONOURING | Connection and The Memory of Those Lost | 16-18 October 2021

[Edited extract from public address]

In a year of unprecedented hardships facing the world, we mourn millions of lives lost, connecting people of faith and spirituality committed to peace, justice, and sustainability.

The 2021 Parliament of the World’s Religions and its theme of “Opening Our Hearts to the World: Compassion in Action” is organized at a time of great sorrow for our world.

This virtual Convening, ambitious and historic for the organization, aims to celebrate and connect with the global interfaith movement in the midst of the pandemic. But it is also an observance of the deep loss felt by every individual, congregation, community, organization, and nation since the 2018 Parliament.

At the Plenary on Grief, the Parliament intends to honor those lost in solidarity with our global interfaith community.

We invite attendees and members of the movement to submit the name and photo of those who passed away between 2018-2021 as part of a special memorial ceremony that will be presented live on Sunday 17 October 2021.
