VMC | UPDATING | 2023 Cultural Diversity Week, a free library of translated health resources, opportunities in sport and more | Wednesday 23 November 2022

[Edited extract from public address]

Victoria's largest multicultural celebration Cultural Diversity Week is back! From 11-21 March 2023 our state will come together to celebrate the power, influence and impact of multicultural Victoria.

Message from the Chairperson

The theme for 2023 Cultural Diversity Week (CDW) is Our Past. Our Future: Celebrating and reflecting on the contributions of Victoria’s multicultural communities.

The theme calls on people of all ages and backgrounds to reflect on Victoria’s long history and bright future as a multicultural state. We've included an item in this newsletter which will direct you to resources, inspiration and ideas for hosting your own CDW event. Every Victorian is invited to get involved!

In other news, the VMC began its quarterly Regional Advisory Council (RAC) meetings with the North West Metropolitan RAC starting off the meetings last Monday. We are receiving important insights from our RAC members as to the immediate concerns and issues of multicultural communities around Victoria, with a key concern being mental health, especially for multicultural youth.

As we start planning and preparing for the new year, the VMC is committed to the improvement of mental health outcomes for multicultural communities, and will continue to advocate in this space. In the meantime, know that you can get support and help.

Until we next meet, take care and stay well.
Viv Nguyen AM, Chairperson
