CFF | Reducing the barriers for Indigenous children around Australia

[Edited from public address]

Did you know the Cathy Freeman Foundation...

• Supports 1600 Indigenous children and their families from four remote Indigenous communities
• Works closely with 7 schools
• Started out supporting 600 children and their families on Palm Island
• Has grown to support an extra 1000 children during the last 12 months

Through The Horizons Program recognises students based on their academic merit, attendance and desire to achieve, and rewards them by offering one of five trips to Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
In total, around 80 students will attend the one-week trips, which focus on building confidence and skills in goal setting, exploring post school pathways and meeting Indigenous role models.

Momentous gathering of students from four remote communities on Horizons Program. This year we have made history at the Cathy Freeman Foundation by uniting hard working and focused students from Palm Island and Woorabinda in Queensland, and Wurrumiyanga and Galiwin’ku in the Northern Territory on the Horizons trips in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. Together with partner Cottage by the Sea, we have developed the program to benefit students from diverse yet remote Indigenous communities.
