Many independence days were observed and celebrated in the community over the last week.
Message from the Chairperson
Several VMC Commissioners, including myself, were honoured to attend independence day celebrations for India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Alongside these celebrations, our thoughts are with the Afghan community in Victoria who are marking the one year anniversary of the fall of Kabul. On behalf of the VMC, I extend my thanks to everyone who continues to share their histories and stories, and for extending compassion and courage to others during challenging times.
It is this connection to each other that is the hallmark of Victoria's multicultural communities, and one that the VMC hopes to extend online. Our newly relaunched online community, VMConnect, is a fantastic place to share your events, services, programs, opportunities and ideas with each other!
I warmly invite you to consider joining this online community today. Along with our Multicultural Youth Network (applications close next week!), it's another forum we can centre multicultural voices.
Until we next meet, take care and stay well.
Viv Nguyen AM, Chairperson
