CITC | GATHERING | Online for Vigil of Peace and UN International Day Of Peace | Wednesday 21 September 2021 | 6-6.30pm

[Edited extract from public address]

A world where compassion, kindness, empathy and respect are the ruling forces. The 2022 theme "End Racism – Build Peace" is an invitation to reflect and act on the kind of world we want to live in now and to create for our future generations.

On UN Peace Day, we invite you to join community leaders from all backgrounds and come together, in unity, to light a candle for this vision.

This half hour peace-filled event, including messages of hope and a gentle guided meditation, will celebrate and reinforce compassion, resilience, courage and hope within each one of us, within the community – and for our world.

We hope that you are able to join us and make your own contribution to peace.

Pause for Peace at Noon

Each day at noon, people of all faiths and none use this ‘Universal Prayer for Peace’. This forms a wave of pure wishes, prayer and hope rippling each day around the globe.
Lead me from death to life,
from falsehood to truth;
lead me from despair to hope,
from fear to trust;
lead me from hate to love,
from war to peace.
Let peace fill our heart,
our world, our universe.
This prayer is an adaptation of a famous mantra from the Hindu Upanishads, translated by Satish Kumar, a Jain Monk. You might like to join us in holding this prayer and intentions for peace every day at noon this month - so set your alarm clocks! :)

Spread Awareness of These Events

Calm in the City is a not-for-profit venture which listens and engages with the city communities to bring calm into the heart of the city. We would appreciate the support of any individuals or organisations in spreading awareness of this supportive event for the community. Please let us know if you are able to do this since we would like to acknowledge you on the day.

Enjoy creating a habit of peaceful thoughts in September (it's said that it takes 21 days to create a habit!) - and we look forward to connecting with you on Wednesday 21 September 6-6.30pm. Don't forget to book to receive your link to the event!

With all the best wishes, take care – and in peace,
The organising team.
